I mention in my videos that I love practicality because life does not slow down for any of us, so practicality is key here. It is vital to our mental health to rid ourselves of stress, the stress of perfection and trying to do things by the book, to be able to sit down at the dinner table, the kitchen table, the kitchen counter on a stool--wherever we choose and slow down for a home prepared meal. The bottom line is... I want to help people cook and share my experiences acquired through years of trial and error. I want to share only tried and true recipes that I have learned from some amazing people in my life whom I have been privileged to know. Some of these mentors are now gone but still live in my memory and heart and some that still grace my life with their presence and support, these are individuals from all cultural backgrounds who have enriched my life in countless ways but mainly in the art of cooking and eating well.
We all know that is is very easy to find a million recipes online for a specific dish, different TV shows featuring new chefs and new dishes all the time, new cooking methods too. This makes us all hungry and inspired but sometimes confused.
How do we put the dish together in the real world and then pair it with other dishes for a beautiful meal presentation without breaking the bank? How many times a week do we eat at home vs. sit down restaurants or take out and how do we find the time to make a balanced nutritious meal period. Those are all very important questions we ask ourselves often.
I am very big on one dish practical casserole style meals, in the crock pot or the pressure cooker, meals that often cover all of our food groups and are a complete hit when you have a lot of mouths to feed. Also, many innovative products and new dietary options are constantly hitting the shelves at supermarkets, so I am going to try to stay updated with the latest "deliciousness" available to us in our local farmers markets and stores.
Looking forward to sharing my grocery finds and more with you!
Expect to find "how-to" videos on my Youtube library straight from my kitchen that show you step by step, how to cook a simple meal that everyone will enjoy or a single dish whether it is for entertaining a crowd or for a one person quick dinner after a long day at work. Most of this videos are inedited, they don't have the greatest lighting and are raw but their purpose is to give you a visual to compliment the recipe idea you are reading.
If you are reading this page, whether you are a beginner or not, if you are a newlywed, a young adult, a mom, a busy professional or you're simply browsing for ideas, I hope that you will try making one of my recipes and then sit happily at the dinner table knowing that your meal was effortlessly prepared by you with the freshest ingredients and find that it was easier than you thought! I also hope that you will quickly find satisfaction and joy in cooking at home more often rather than getting take out or going to a restaurant. Once you get passed the prep time hurdles and have all the ingredients handy, you will be pleasantly surprised at how much money and calories you will save. It is my wish that you live a healthy life and eat well!
